It was rumored for a long time that Mike Jinks might be trying his hand at a different position. Well, today he got it.
Mike Jinks to Bowling Green is official. Jinks was a Texas HS coach from 1996-2012: https://t.co/vZgFaSjJOJ

Congrats to Coach Jinks, we wish you all the best.
This is obviously a huge jump for Jinks, but it isn't like he has zero head coaching experience. He was the Head Coach of a very powerful Cibolo Steele team from 2006-2012.
Jinks was heavily involved in the improvement of DeAndre Washington, our first running back to break 1,000 yards in a decade. He excelled in the position that he was put in, but his sights were set high from the moment he came to Tech.
This puts several recruiting issues into question, as Jinks was involved heavily in the recruitment of Justin Stockton, Xavier Martin (who is a class of '17 recruit), Bryson Denley ('16), and Antoine Cox-Wesley ('16). This throws the commitment of Martin into some limbo, but the main loss is to a pipeline of skill position players from Cibolo Steele. Cox-Wesley was expected to make an instant impact on campus. If we can retain these recruits, we will be sitting pretty.
Once again, congrats to Coach Jinks, and good luck at Bowling Green. BGSU, you're getting a good one.
