Texas Tech Defeats Sam Houston St. 71-56

The Red Raiders are 5-1 and playing well.

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Raiders defeated the Bearkats tonight in Lubbock 71-56. Center Odiase led all scoring with 16 points and 3 other players were in double figures. The Bearkats simply had no answer for Odiase when he got the ball down low. The team played sloppy at times but was good enough to maintain a double digit lead the entire second half. Sophomore Zach Smith was flying all over the court and showed us why he is going to be a special player with 14 rebounds and 3 blocked shots! The team made a season high 7 three pointers in the game and was 18 of 23 from the free throw line. Tech won on the boards 44-43 but this number should have been a lot better considering our size advantage. I'm sure Smith will be working the rebounding drills pretty hard the next few days.

I think this was the result we all expected since Tech has been playing some really good basketball this season. The Red Raiders get a week off for final exams, and then will resume play at home on December 9th against UT Martin.
