Week 9 Odds - Texas Tech vs Oklahoma State

A look at the current standings in the VTM Pick Em contest, and what the odds makers are saying about this week's games.

Week 8 Recap

Another week down in the pick em contest for a few of the VTM writers. When I was setting the picks for the week, I noticed there were a few non-Power 5 teams among the games to be set, as some non-traditional teams had entered the AP Top 25 poll. Additionally, there were some of the bigger name schools that weren't going to be in the picks for us. Since I have all the control on what games to pick, and because more games is more fun, and usually yields more points, we will be picking contests from the schools that are ranked as well as all Power 5 teams. First a look at the overall standings from week to week.

The middle is still very crowded, with the official results still having Hunter in 3rd, but with less overall points than Jonathan. The results on the web site we are using drops the 2 lowest weeks, so for now Hunter is surviving to win a medal (even though none will be given out). There were a lot of points given out this week, with 33 games to pick, however we are still picking the games at around .500. But hey, .500 gets you a bowl game.

There were 4 conference games last week, as a couple more teams had this mysterious thing called a "Bye Week". I'm not sure what they are, and like the Abominable Snowman, not quite sure they even exist in the South Plains.

Ouch. Only 2 of us were able to pick 2 of the 4 games correctly, and everyone lost a lot of potential points for sticking with our boys in white. Baylor had an off game, and in a rare occurrence, wasn't able to cover the spread.
