Texas Tech Recruiting Quick Hit

Both the basketball and baseball teams have had a recruit commit in the past 24 hours

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The past 24 hours have seen a PG from Florida and "arguably the best LHP in JUCO" commit to play ball in Lubbock.

Keon Clergeot, PG - Auburndale, FL

As popular as the football team is on campus right now, basketball season is coming up soon and the coaching staff is busy getting ready for this year and recruiting for the future. After visiting during homecoming weekend for the Homecoming and Hoops event, Keon announced earlier today that he would make his decision tonight at 6:00, and he picked Lubbock. Keon is the first commit of the 2016 class.

Devin Smeltzer, LHP

Devin is a LHP out of Voorhees, NJ that was selected by the Padres in the 33rd round of the 2014 draft. In the high school class of 2014, he was ranked the 13th best LHP in the nation and the top in his home state. Smeltzer initially went to Florida Gulf Coast University out of high school, and then announced he was transferring to San Jacinto Community College this past August. Last night he announced via twitter that he was committed to play in Lubbock.
