Check-In and Media Day. It is check-in day and I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly the official site will be doing today, but I'm pretty sure they'll be doing something. This is essentially the media day, where players check in and the media will be given access and gather a ton of interviews that will last a good part of fall practices. Aside from the media availability, you can expect a ton of coverage tomorrow, at least from me as I try to round as much up as I possibly can.
I do know that DE Branden Jackson and QB Davis Webb will take over the official site's twitter account,, which can be found here @techathletics. Jackson is set to take over at 1:45 today and Webb will take over at 3:15.
You can expect a few posts from me today as we run down the roster and recap who is gone, who is here and we'll update it even more when the freshmen check in later today. I'm creating a storystream, so all of the stories will be in one spot. For a quick version, you can check out the LAJ today for a rundown of the roster as well as some position battles.
Catching Up With Stephens. I posted an article about Eric Stephens a week or so ago and this story from the Killeen Daily Herald catches us up even more and we find out that after getting his degree, Stephens bounced around from job to job, working at GM, activating phones at Target, and working for a mortgage company before getting back to coaching:
"Outside of my family and my religion, my next greatest love is football," Stephens said. "I wanted to coach at the high school level. College football is more of a business. At the high school level, I knew I'd have a chance to be passionate about what I love to do - mentor young kids and help them grow to become great men."
Glad to see Stephens giving back and doing what he loves.
