Texas Tech Links: Linebacker Corps; Stidham is Midlands Top Five; Doege in CFL

We take a quick look at the linebacker corps. Jarrett Stidham made the Midlands top five and we check in on Seth Doege in the CFL.

Linebacker Corps. The DMN is running down the most likely starters for the linebackers and I think this is what we've thought since the spring game, Pete Robertson, Kenny Williams, V.J. Fehoko and Sam Eguavoen.  The only thing that I really disagree with that is that Robertson was the perfect outside linebacker and I still contend that Robertson has to be better getting to the quarterback, only 2.5 sacks all of last year.  For Texas Tech to make the next step on defense, I think he has to be one of the guys that improves that aspect of his game.

Stidham is Midlands Top Five. Texas Tech commit Jarrett Stidham made the top five from the Midlands Region, which is really the mid to southern area of the country.  Admittedly, that's an awful description of the midlands, but you'll just have to deal with that.

Doege in Saskatchewan. Nice article on QB Seth Doege and making the team for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, everything from the Call Me Doege, to playing high school football in Texas.  Here's a bit:

DOEGE: That's what I dreamed of as a little kid. My dream was to one day play quarterback at Texas Tech. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to do that. There's nothing like it. Especially when you're starting, you're The Man on the team and you're The Man outside. You eat it up. You don't really know how much you love it and how much you're going to miss it once it's over. It was just a really, really amazing time for me.

And if you are pining to watch some football, the CFL is underway and I find myself watching this and it's good football.

Miscellaneous. 2015 G Fred Ulu-Perry committed to UCLA last night, but it sounds like he might still take visits to Texas Tech, so you never know . . .  our friends over at Miner Rush take a look at the Red Raiders . . . All of Bill Connelly's previews for the Big 12 are up and if you need to know about another Big 12 team, this is a great place to start . . .
