Texas Tech Links: Johnson Likes Texas Tech; Ross in Croatia; Drozd, Sadberry & Redman Sign

Thoughts on the Corey Dauphine situation, plus another high profile recruit likes Texas Tech. Ronald Ross is playing in Croatia and played at a charity event in Midland. Jonny Drozd, Chris Sadberry and Hunter Redman all sign with their MLB team.

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

I hope everybody had a great weekend. This is the first weekend since the beginning of football season where there has not been a sport that needed to be covered in terms of games. From football, to basketball to baseball. It's been one heck of a happy sports year.

Top 75 Games. We love lists, and NewsOK has ranked 75 of the Big 12 games and have Texas Tech in seven of those games:

7 OU at Texas Tech
11 Baylor vs. Texas Tech
13 Texas at Texas Tech
22 Arkansas at Texas Tech
25 Texas Tech at OSU
27 Texas Tech at Kansas State
33 Texas Tech at TCU

There's comments on each game at the link.

Dauphine's Decision. So news has trickled out over the course of Friday and the weekend that current Texas Tech commit RB Corey Dauphine is going to be choosing his college program later in the year.  At first, Dauphine's decision was going to be later this month, and then at the end of the summer and now I think we're going to be waiting until the middle of the year.

I hope Dauphine keeps to his commitment because I like his story, but I know that growing up in the environment that he has grown up in, it's tough to move 8 hours away (or so). I get that, especially when your mom is living off of food stamps, it's not like there's a ton of discretionary income to fill up the car with some petrol, drive to Lubbock, and then rent a hotel room. In any event, I think with Dauphine pushing out his decision, it just means he's confused and needs some time, and I get that.  Texas Tech's main competition for Dauphine is Baylor and Texas A&M.  Both of those programs already have a running back committed, for what it is worth, which makes me think this is a situation of Dauphine being comfortable with the distance at Texas Tech or staying close to home because it is difficult for his mom to make that trip and his mom is pretty much all he has left.

I will say that I'm pretty comfortable with Mike Jinks pulling the trigger on any other running back and Texas Tech has offers out to a handful of other running backs, and that list includes Chris Warren as an ATH at the end of the list. Texas Tech pulled in two running backs in the 2014 class, so it is a position that you don't want to ignore, but Texas Tech is going to be okay.

Tyron Johnson Likes Texas Tech. Highly regarded and 5-star receiver Tyron Johnson from New Orleans, Louisiana, will release his top five schools soon and it should include Texas Tech, Texas A&M an LSU.

Ronald Ross in Europe. Ronald Ross returned to the states, particularly Midland, to participate in a Juneteenth Tournament and Ross talked about his budding rap career as well as playing in Croatia for a few years, averaging about 20 points a game, and he says he hopes to play about six more years:

"Basketball's been really good for me over there, so I've been very blessed to be able to play and stay healthy," Ross said. "It's only getting better and better for now, so I think I'll play for about six more years and maybe call it quits."

Drozd Signs With Yankees. Congrats to pitcher Jonny Drozd for signing a free agent deal with the New York Yankees.

Gregory Announces Coaching Staff. New softball head coach Adrian Gregory announced her coaching staff, which includes Sharonda McDonald and Amanda Locke.  I think it's awesome and funny that Gregory used the word "stoked" to describe how excited she was for the coaches she brought in.

Kravic Has Invite to Serbian National Team. Congrats to Dejan Kravic for receiving an invite to compete for a spot on the Serbian National Team, what a terrific honor!

Sadberry and Redman Sign. SID Scott Lacefield tweeted out that both LHP Chris Sadberry and C Hunter Redman signed, Sadberry with the Marlins and Redman with the Dodgers.  Congrats to the both of them!
