Kirsch Named Big 12 Player of the Week, Team Looking to Host Regional. Congrats to Adam Kirsch for being named the Big 12 Player of the Week(this sorta thing happens when you sweep):
Kirsch guided the Red Raiders to their third Big 12 series sweep of the season taking all three games from West Virginia last weekend while batting .400 (4-for-10) with four runs, two home runs and two walks with a .538 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage.
And yes, I do plan on doing some game threads for the Big 12 Tournament, which is set to start on Wednesday at 7:30 in Oklahoma City against the Longhorns. Should be a good time. And Texas Tech is ranked 23rd by Baseball America and received their 14th straight week of being ranked. There's also the chance that Texas Tech could host a regional game and I found this bit interest:
An "aggressive" hosting bid: Going into the off week, Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt promised Texas Tech's bid to the NCAA will be very aggressive. So expect some of the guarantees the school makes to catch the eye of the committee.
Having not been able to cover something like this since I started VTM and prior to that, I never took notice, what does this mean? I always thought that hosting a regional was dependent on a team's record, like getting into the NCAA Tournament. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, thanks to TMacRaider for the new photo, and how about dem WVU uniforms?
Stidham in Top 100. I suppose that this is no surprise that quarterback and Texas Tech commit Jarrett Stidham is the #50 player according to Rivals.
Duncan to be Next Chancellor. I have very few sources in this world, but I did have a source that emailed me on September 13, 2013 and told me that Robert Duncan would be the next Chancellor of Texas Tech. I was told that these sorts of things take lots of time and these things are planned out months of advance, which is a bit surprising for me, especially since there appeared to be an interview process.
LINKS:
* Totally Texas Tech has some terrific new campus photos.
* A preview of the receivers which are going to be fast.
* In a long list of top returning players in the Big 12 for men's basketball, not one Texas Tech Red Raider was mentioned and I think I'd have to agree. Texas Tech is going to be young and inexperienced, but I think the JUCO newcomers will surprise.
