The Red Raiders hosts the Sooners and believe it or not, this is the 4th place team and the 5th place team facing off this weekend, so despite me feeling quite good about how this season has played out thus far, there’s not a lot of room for much error. If you note on the starting pitchers, Ryan Moseley is getting, I think, his first Big 12 start of the year tonight and he’s pitched quite well, with Sadberry being moved to Saturday and Dylan Dusek getting the start on Sunday. Dominic Moreno has now officially been moved to the pen, which is good and the pen has been really terrific this year. Moreno just makes this team that much more deep. I get the feeling that Tadlock has decided on the starting pitchers in the home stretch.

Texas Tech Looks to Finish Strong: The Texas Tech baseball team looks to finish the season strong as they host the Oklahoma Sooners (via LAJ). Here’s head coach Tim Tadlock:
"We’ve got a lot of respect for the game, first of all, and a lot of respect for the league and a lot of respect for every opponent we play," Tadlock said. "We’ll try to play the game the right way and I’m sure they’ll try to do the same. As far as the dangers go, it’s a Big 12 weekend and you better respect the game enough to go play it the right way."

Sooners With Consistency: Oklahoma has struggled with consistency, especially offensively this year and Oklahoma head coach Pete Hughes knows that some of it is his youthf team (via LAJ):
"We’re just inconsistent right now," said Hughes, who came to Oklahoma after seven successful seasons at Virginia Tech. "It’s a challenge for young teams to play consistently in all phases of the game, and that usually rears its ugly head when you’re tired and the season starts progressing. Our challenge is to get back on track and start playing consistent baseball."

Game 1: Friday, April 25th @ 6:30 pm
Texas Tech Starting Pitcher: RHP Ryan Moseley (1-1, 2.30)
Oklahoma Starting Pitcher: LHP Adam Choplick (3-2, 4.05)
Final Score & Box Score: Oklahoma 5, Texas Tech 9 - Recap - Box Score - LAJ
Ryan Moseley gets the start, but he gives up 2 runs in his first inning and he's immediately replaced by Jonny Drozd, who goes 5 innings, scattering 9 hits, 3 runs, no walks and 4 strikeouts. Drozd gets the win and Corey Taylor earns a 3 inning save, giving up just 1 hit in those final three frames while walking none and striking out 1. The offense was just spectacular, scoring at least 1 run in the first 5 innings. Eric Gutierrez was 2-4 with 3 RBI and Tyler Neslony goes 2-4 with a home run to right field (it's on the video). Jake Barrios was 2-5, Devon Conely was 3-5 and Tim Proudfoot was 2-3. So yeah the offense was going pretty good.

Game 2: Saturday, April 26th @ 12:00 pm
Texas Tech Starting Pitcher: LHP Chris Sadberry (3-1, 2.47)
Oklahoma Starting Pitcher: LHP Jacob Evans (3-2, 3.89)
Final Score & Box Score: Oklahoma 4, Texas Tech 14 - Recap - Box Score - LAJ
Ten runs in the 5th inning. Seriously. If you read the box score and go down to the description of the 5th inning it's pretty danged amazing. There were 4 hits before the 1st out, 1 more hit before the second out and then 4 more hits, including a 3 run home run by Eric Gutierrez, with two outs. by my count, that's 9 hits in the 5th inning alone. Texas Tech had 19 hits for the day and every starter got a hit, including Adam Kirsch going 3-5, the aforementioned Eric Gutierrez going 2-5 with 3 RBI, Bryant Burleson going 1-5 with 3 RBI, Tyler Neslony going 2-4 with 2 RBI and a home run, Jake Barrios going 3-5, Devon Conely going 3-4 with an RBI and Tim Proudfoot going 2-4 with 3 RBI. Chris Sadberry moves to 4-1 on the year, pitching 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits, 4 runs, all earned, walking 3 and striking out 4. Dalton Brown finished up the 8th and all of the 9th inning giving up just 1 hit.

Game 3: Sunday, April 27th @ 2:00 pm
Texas Tech Starting Pitcher: LHP Dylan Dusek (5-0, 2.31)
Oklahoma Starting Pitcher: TBA
Final Score & Box Score: Oklahoma 4, Texas Tech 14 - Recap - Box Score - LAJ
Well, another dominating win and it looked pretty easy. Dylan Duske pitched 4 innings, giving up 7 hits and all four runs, while Dominic Moreno notched his 3rd win of the year by pitching the rest of the way. Well, it was only a 7 inning game, so Moreno pitched the 3 additional innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs. Eric Gutierrez hit his 10th home run of the year and was 2-3 from the plate and had 4 RBI. Adam Kirsch was 1-3 with 3 RBI and Hunter Redman was 2-4 with 2 RBI. Just so much offense right now. Texas Tech is now 35-13 overall and 11-7 in the Big 12. This is good for 3rd in the Big 12 and will travel to Kansas this weekend.
