I didn't have a lot of time this morning to get out any additional links, so you get them this afternoon. Feel free to consider this to be your open thread for the baseball game in Midland tonight.
Baseball
Texas Tech hosts New Mexico tonight at 6:00 pm at Security Bank Ballpark in Midland. Freshman Dylan Dusek is on the mound for Texas Tech, sporting a 1.69 ERA and a 3-0 record while New Mexico will start A.J. Carman, who has a 6.75 ERA and a 2-0 record for the Lobos (previewed via DT). Good stuff from George Watson about how losing to Texas for the series won't define this team, but the rest of the way surely will (via LAJ):
Nothing this season, though, has provided any indication that slide will happen. The Red Raiders have been a true reflection of their coach, and Tim Tadlock has preached all season the importance of not letting one loss bleed into the next game.
"The whole team understands the game is about picking each other up," Tadlock said after Sunday’s 5-2 extra-innings loss. "Guys have been good about doing that."
That is the task ahead this week, picking each other up. This could end up being the first true test of overcoming adversity this season. Sure, the Red Raiders overcame the losses of Tim Proudfoot and Tyler Neslony to injury, both of whom returned this past week.
Texas Tech continues to be ranked, #25 by the USA Today Coach's Poll and #26 by the NCBWA Poll (via Texas Tech).
Men's Basketball
There's a report that F Jordan Tolbert will transfer to SMU and perhaps even be eligible immediately (via DMN). I hope he is eligible immediately, I think Tolbert needs basketball in his life and I'd hate to see him sit out a year. Tolbert would have a year to sit out because he never redshirted.
