THE ANALYSIS

Key Matchup | Foster vs. Turner: I was totally blown away by how good Marcus Foster was for KSU when we played. I just had no idea how talented he was. Just a terrific guard that is a really good shooter and has terrific ability to get to the rim. Although it was a rough game for Texas Tech against Oklahoma St., I did think that Turner played really well, showing an affinity to get to the basket and take the ball to the basket with a variety of bank shots.

Take Aim: K-State isn’t confounding, but it is an interesting team with very little scoring and very little offense, but as mentioned above, Foster is a budding star on the team and by far the best player on the team. Gipson is a rough and tumble power forward that seems to give Kravic fits, although Kravic has a 5" height advantage on him. Southwell didn’t start the last game, but he’s still a really well-rounded player that does it all for K-State, averaging 10 points, almost 5 rebounds and 3 assists at the small forward spot..

Via KenPom, K-State is a top 20 team defensively and after watching them the last game, they still do a terrific job of challenging shots and making teams work for baskets. During that first half, I was almost sure that this K-State defense was the toughest I had seen thus far as they were forcing Texas Tech into uncharacteristically poor shots. The offense is lacking, but with Foster at the helm, it they seem to create when needed.
