Texas Tech Soccer Takes on Auburn

Tech women dominated Prairie View A&M in the first round of the NCAA tournament 8-0. In the 2nd round, they face a tough Auburn team with the hopes of advancing to Sunday's game.

Texas Tech recorded the most dominating win in the NCAA tournament in program history. They beat Prairie View A&M soundly, and Janine Beckie got an impressive first-half hat trick. Coach Stone was pleased to be able to get all of his players some minutes on the field in the first outing and liked how they took care of business. He even talks about when he asked them to stop scoring and just hold possession of the ball; I think we still got a few more even then.

Today's second round match-up with Auburn should be a much closer game. Auburn has traditionally had a strong soccer program in the SEC and actually knocked Tech out of the tournament a couple of years ago. They have a young team this year, and Tech is favored to win. Let's hope our women can take care of business.

If we win today, we will advance to the Sweet 16 round to face the winner of Florida and Cal. Coach Stone feels strong about our depth to be able to be a solid Sunday team if we advance. You can see the full bracket here.
