Late yesterday evening, news broke that current Texas Tech commit Rika Levi, who had been recently offered by Oregon, had cancelled his visit to Oregon and will sign with Texas Tech on Wednesday:

This is pretty significant for Texas Tech as Levi will provide a some much needed depth at nose guard and defensive tackle along with fellow JUCO defensive linemen, Marcus Smith, Keland McElrath and Brandon Thorpe.  Levi is viewed as somewhat unique in that he is a true nose guard and Texas Tech really only has one other nose guard on the roster, Anthony Smith.   As we ramp up for National Signing Day, don't forget to follow VTM's recruiting expert, MikeTTU (@Michael_LaB) and Landon Wright is a terrific follow as well (@LW247).

Thinking About 2015 QB's: As most of you have already gathered, it's already time to start thinking about the 2015 recruiting class.  There's already news about 2015 players taking visits and naming favorites.  There's really a ton of stuff to keep track of and that's why we have MikeTTU, to help us keep track of all of this stuff.  In any event, two of the top quarterbacks of the 2015 class, Jarrett Stidham (24/7Sports) and Kyler Murray (24/7Sports) both have Texas Tech at the top of their respective lists for colleges.  It's a long ways to go before 2015, an entire year, but this stuff starts early, before the 2014 class is even wrapped up.

Bouma a Preferred Walk-On? Again, if you're checking out MikeTTU's twitter machine, you'll know that Grant Bouma (6-3/220), a linebacker from Bakersfield, California, tweeted that he's going to be signing with Texas Tech, I would imagine maybe as a preferred walk-on, but I'm not sure.  Bouma was recently named to the California All-Stte First Team Small School (via CalHiSports).  Bouma tweeted a photo of himself at the Texas Tech football facility, so he's visited Lubbock, and he has another photo with Mike Smith.  Check out Bouma's highlight video (via Hudl).

Vasquez Integral to Broncos' Success: This is from the LAJ, but I think it's from somewhere else, but a good article about how integral Louis Vasquez has been to the Broncos' success on offense (via LAJ).

Signing Day Preview for Big 12: I think we had one of these from Sports Illustrated yesterday, and today, we get a preview of National Signing Day for the Big 12 from USA Today (via USAToday).  As you might gather, this geared towards UT and featuring them more than anything else and they think that Baker Mayfield was the 2013 top recruit.
