The Lady Raiders (6-11, 0-6) take on the #18/21 West Virginia Mountaineers (16-2, 5-1) tonight at "The USA" in Lubbock at 6:30pm CST.   Tech is still looking to get their first Big12 Conference win this season. This game will be the 3rd meeting between the Lady Raiders and the Mountaineers. Texas Tech won both of the games last season so they lead the series 2-0.

The Lady Raiders have been a conundrum so far this season.  In most of the games they have come out and played hard and either taken the lead or at least held their own but then they have lapses of time where the points go cold.  The droughts have ranged from a few minutes up to ten minutes.  In Sunday's game against Oklahoma State, the cold shooting did not come until the 2nd half.  On top of the poor field-goal attempts the Defense on this team is sorely lacking.  At times they play like a well oiled machine and then it whiffs away in a brief second and they get overrun on the court and ultimately lose the game.

The Mountaineers will have the height advantage and are strong on defense. WV is struggling with their free-throws this season at 70.3%. Senior Guard Christal Caldwell has led the Mountaineers in scoring in the last two games with 20 points and is currently the season's scoring leader with 12.3 points/ game.

The Mountaineers Head Coach, Mike Carey is in his 13th season with West Virginia. Carey's current record with WV is 260-143. His achievements speak volumes: a school-record 29 wins in 2009-10; the highest national rankings in program history; the most BIG EAST wins in school history; seven 21-win seasons in nine years (a school record); six consecutive postseason appearances (a school record); 21 career victories over ranked opponents, including the highest-ranked team in school history and the highest ranked road team in school history; victories over two eventual national runner-ups; two BIG EAST championship game appearances; consecutive NCAA tournament appearances (2007, 2008 and 2010, 2011, 2012) and six trips in nine years (2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012).
