Texas Tech announced that senior PG Daylen Robinson will transfer from Texas Tech. I haven't seen a true formal announcement, just a few mentions on Twitter that said that Texas Tech has announced that Robinson will transfer.
This means that Texas Tech is left with one less guard to assist at point guard (that was totally intentional), which was a position that does not have a lot of experience. Luke Adams (5-9/170) is the only returning true point guard, although Texas Tech and head coach Tubby Smith did recruit JUCO transfer Robert Turner (6-1/175) as well as freshmen Cory Scott (6-2/-) and Randy Onwuasor (6-3/190).
For my own two cents, I think this certainly creates a bit of an issue as far as depth is concerned. Of the two freshmen, I think that Onwuasor is more ready that Scott to compete right now. Physically, I think they can both play the point defensively, but offensively, I think that Onwuasor is more well-rounded.
There most likely aren't any real replacements for Robinson this late in the game and I was somewhat expecting that Robinson would play 10 to 15 or so minutes a game at point guard. Robinson struggled a bit with tempo and turnovers in his only year after transferring from Moberly Area C.C. Robinson should have one year of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2013-14 year as I don't think he's used a redshirt year. I wish Robinson luck wherever he might land.
