We had a nice mix of questions over the past week or two so let's get to it.
Question: Which will be the larger number this season? Tech's losses or Washington State's wins?
VTM Mailbag: This is a great question. Washington State should see an improvement over the dumpster fire that was their season last year. Mike was confident that he had 7 or 8 wins going into 2012 so I'm sure he was as surprised as anyone at their struggles. We'll predict that WSU will have 7 wins, so that number will be significantly larger than the 0 losses Tech puts on the board.
YES THAT JUST HAPPENED WE'RE TAKIN' THE BIG 12 LIKE A STORM TROOPER IN A PARKING LOT
WE MIGHT LOSE 1 OR 2 BUT WE'RE TAKING THIS BITCH HAHAHAHA SUCK IT UBBEN
Question: Wanted to know your thoughts on who you think the most indispensable defender for Texas Tech is?
VTM Mailbag: We've got to have better corner play and more consistency from the LB's but I think a big nasty like Kerry Hyder is going to be critical to our success. He had 11 tackles in the Baylor game last year and we'll need that again all year- particularly when we go up against teams like Baylor, UT, OSU, Kansas State, Iowa State, Kansas, did I leave anybody out?, etc that have run the ball down our throats in recent years. If the Tech defense can stop the run more consistently we'll be in a lot of games at the end, and I like our chances in that situation.
Question: Do you think there is a QB legitimate competition between Brewer and Webb?
VTM Mailbag: I think Brewer will ultimately win the starting spot but I think Webb has been a pleasant surprise for Kliff and staff. I don't think its as settled as most think it is, which is a great thing for Texas Tech fans. As physical as the game is these days it's a luxury to have QB 1 and QB 1a (ask Oklahoma State). I'm a big Brewer fan though. He seems to have some of the intangibles that we haven't seen in Lubbock since Harrell graduated.
Question: In the off chance that KK doesn't lead us to a conference title in his first season, who do u think will win the Big 12?
VTM Mailbag: This sounds crazy but I think everyone should keep their eyes on Baylor. Briles seems to really have some mojo going in Waco and the Big 12 should be wide open this year. Good coaching might earn them an extra win or two, which could be the difference maker.
But of course, all this is mere speculation and the only thing we really know IS THAT WE'RE TAKING THE BIG 12 LIKE STORMTROOPERS IN A PARKING LOT.

Question: I'm so glad you've started giving out free advice, because I'm in tight spot. My girlfriend and her family are serious LSU fans. And when I say serious, I mean that they might even like the Tigers as much as I like Tech. We've tried to consolidate our football allegiances and rivalries, and we've been mostly successful, but I'm having a hard time deciding who I should root for in the TCU v. LSU game.
I'm torn: I really hate purple aggie, but with all of the SEC hype I keep hearing year after year, I want to cheer for the Big 12 as much as possible in out of conference games. (Excepting Texas. Obviously, I'll never root for Texas.)
What should I do?
VTM Mailbag: Man, this is a tough one. My advice is to be really passive aggressive with this whole situation. You're in a good spot because they both wear purple, so you can play it right down the middle. That way your girlfriend and her family will think you're down with the Tigers while you're secretly rooting for the Big 12 and TCU. Get a big ass bowl of gumbo and wear this shirt:
I designed it just for you and am now selling them for $29.99 each, or two for $70. Trust me though, it's worth it and you'll be a hit with the family. The Sofa King is always a hit with the family.
So that's all for the mailbag this week, thanks for the great questions. If you have a hot sports take or need advice on impressing the future in-laws, hit me @FakeWillyT or SARRMAILBAG @ YAHOO DOT COM.
Except for you, Ubben. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCK IT UBBEN
