The Alamo Bowl will extend its partnership with the Big 12 and Pac-12 for another six years through the 2019 season, and will now match the No. 1 teams (outside the CFP group) from both the Big 12 and Pac-12. The bowl previously selected the first available Pac-12 team and second available Big 12 team.

The Alamo Bowl will replace the Cotton Bowl on the Big 12 postseason pecking order as the Cotton Bowl will now be part of CFP’s rotating semifinal sites.
