Former Texas Tech head coach Spike Dykes and the Spike Dykes Charity Golf Tournament Fund of The Dallas Foundation have set this year's Spike Dykes Charity Golf Tournament at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine on July 13th to help cure Alzheimer's disease.

You can check out all of the details at SpikeDykes.com. You can sign up to play or be a sponsor, but they would prefer that you call 214-459-0116 as they'll get you signed up sooner. The morning tee times have sold out, but there are afternoon tee times available. There will also be a dinner after the golf tournament at the Embassy Suites DFW Airport North at 7:00 pm.

Obviously, if you want to be around former Red Raiders of college football luminaries, then this might be the event for you. Just let the photos roll by on SpikeDykes.com and you can see the former players and colleagues that have attended in previous years. They are still working on the guest list, but if and when I can get a finalized list, I'll let you know. I'll be there for the golf tournament, but I'll just be hanging out around the golf course (because I hate playing golf) with J Frederick, one of the many individuals who has help organize this event, and my lovely wife and I will be attending the dinner as well.

As most of you know, Sharon Dykes passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease in November of 2010, and one of Spike's coaching brothers, Darrell Royal, passed away in November of 2012 after suffering with Alzheimer's disease. My grandmother had Alzheimer's disease and I went one year where she knew who I was, to the next year where she couldn't figure out why I was in her house. I also see way too many former clients suffer the affects of Alzheimer's disease, so this is a good cause to help if you can.

As always, if you can help, please do. If you would like to play golf or eat dinner, then that would be awesome too. Let's sell this sucker out.
