Odds and Ends
Totally Tech Tech has his coffee table books on sale and I cannot imagine a better Father's Day or belated Mother's Day gift for the Red Raider in your life. Or heck, just a gift for yourself.
Scott Pelley congratulations Texas Tech for raising $1 billion dollars:
Bring On The Cats with a fantastic article about how it isn't unfair for the NCAA to not pay players as it is just a highly talented few where it is unfair and that most student-athletes do receive something than if they weren't talented athletically. Additional points about how the NCAA could be better.
#longread From SB Nation, how former Iowa St. alum Royce White lives and works with anxiety disorder.
Based off of what happened in the comments in yesterday's post, yes, there are always going to be people that say insensitive things, including some Columbia football players, and when people do, it is better to have a learning moment than point fingers and claim the other person is a racist.
Golf
The women's golf team is in 15th place after the first round of their NCAA Regional in Norman.
Tennis
The official site has a bit of a preview of the women's tennis team NCAA Regional in Lubbock this weekend.
Softball
Congrats to the five Red Raiders named to the Academic All-Big 12 Teams: Taylor Powell, Mikey Kenney, Brittany Talley, Cara Custer and Sandy James!
Women's Basketball
The LAJ was the first to break this story, but head coach Kristy Curry has apparently interviewed at Alabama for their vacant coaching position. This is the second year in a row for Curry to interview as she interviewed at LSU last year. Curry's contract ends in the 2015-2016 season which means that she only has two years remaining. It is apparently Curry and an Alabama JUCO coach that is also an Alabama alum that are up for the job. Similar to Tuberville, Curry may be looking for security as Curry has never coached Texas Tech past the first round of the NCAA Tournament, despite hosting a game this past year.
Men's Basketball
Texas Tech and Tubby Smith have announced the dates for his basketball camps.
Football
Awesome. You all know how ESPN's David Ubben hates you, well, he hates Iowa St. even more as he did not choose Iowa St. as part of his ultimate road trip for two years in a row (Texas Tech has an appearance). The good folks at Wide Right & Natty Lite have offered to pay for a Ubben to attend a game.
RP has their annual Critical 20 and up at #20 is Chris Payne.
