Odds and Ends
Starting next week, we're going to get to X's and O's for the spring game and more specifics. I've got to make this sort of material last for at least a month or so or I won't make it to August.
Tennis
The ladies have a bye in the first round in the Big 12 Championships and as a result, are assured of a win. They'll start up in the second round and are the second overall seed. The LAJ writes about how the ladies are looking for more wins in the postseason. The men will take on TCU in the first round of the Big 12 Championships and the LAJ writes about how the men are looking to keep their NCAA streak alive at six seasons and need a win against TCU.
Track and Field
The official site has the results from yesterday's Red Raider Open, including Cierra White breaking the 100m school record. The LAJ also writes about White's accomplishment.
Softball
The softball team hosts #7 Texas for the final home series. The LAJ takes a look at the career of Mikey Kenney, who has been a terrific player for the Red Raiders for her career.
Baseball
I will have a weekend post later today. I think every game is going to be on Fox College Sports, so there's that, but Texas Tech is traveling to Oklahoma and the Sooners are really good this year. The LAJ has a story on how head coach Tim Tadlock and pitching coach Ray Hayward both have Oklahoma ties.
Football
Not much out there this morning. The KansasCityStar has a story on all of the new quarterbacks in the Big 12 and I do think this is really the story entering into the fall. Also, the DMN has a story on Mesquite Poteet DB Verkedric Vaughns visited Texas Tech for the spring game and he had this to say:
"The coaches were getting crunk and hyped up with the players. It was crazy. It’s something I want to be a part of," Vaughns said. "Coach (Kevin) Curtis told me I was close to picking up an offer, and Coach (Trey) Haverty said I impressed a lot of people so I was just really impressed with them."
