Reviewing the Redshirts | ATH/DB Keenon Ward

New, comments

Fans tend to forget about the players that redshirted the previous year. This is an attempt to remind you about those players.

This is Callan Ward.
This is Callan Ward.
Cameron Spencer

PLAYER: Keenon Ward

POSITION: Athlete / Defensive Back
NUMBER: 35
HEIGHT: 5’9"
WEIGHT: 189
HIGH SCHOOL: Snyder (Snyder, TX)

I haven't mentioned Ward in any of the secondary articles becaue I wash't sure where he's going to play. Under Tuberville, he was slated to play in the secondary, much like Caleb Woodward and Justis Nelson are slated to play in the secondary. Ward played quarterback for Snyder because he was, by far, the best player on his team and he was really good at what he did. But he was to transition in college and there were a handful of reports about how Ward helped the scout team offense by playing the more mobile of the quarterbacks. Maybe it's just me, but I think that says something about Ward and the trust level that he had with the coaches. I should also mention that Sonny Cumbie is the one that recruited Ward, so there is still some connections with Ward and Cumbie in terms of maybe what they think of him as a player. In Ward's Texas Tech profile , he is about 13 pounds heavier.

I don't know if Ward is going to be a safety or cornerback or is there the possibility that he could be moved to an inside receiver spot? I'm not sure and so I'm sure that this is a huge spring for Ward in terms of what the coaching staff is looking to find Ward a permanent home.
