The Lady Raiders (20-7,10-5) play the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (19-7, 8-7) today at the USA at 7pm CST. The Lady Raiders are coming off a win over the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday, Feb. 24th in Lawrence, KS. The Lady Raiders dominated the Jayhawks for two-thirds of the game but then allowed the Jayhawks to rally and tie the game up in the last few seconds of the game. Forward Christine Hyde made a great play and her layup put the Lady Raiders up by 2 points with 3.6 seconds left on the clock. Final score was 72-70. Tech had led at the half 39-23, but around the 10 minute mark in the 2nd half the Jayhawks rallied and went on a run and got the game to a 6 point difference. Tech held that difference until the 2 minute mark where the game became a nail biter. Kansas scored and at the 1 minute mark to get the game to within 2 and then tied the game at the 18 second mark. While the game was exciting, I did not like the fact that the Lady Raiders ran out steam and focus and almost lost the game they had dominated from the start. There is a lack of depth from the bench to relieve the tired legs of the starters and that has me worried going into Conference and NCAA tournaments.

OSU is currently in fifth place in the Big 12 standings with Tech tied with Iowa State in 2nd place. OSU returned its top five scorers from last season. The Cowgirls are definitely a team to be reckoned with. They are number two in the Big12 in the following stats: Scoring Offense (76.0), Free-Throw % (77.2%), Rebounding Defense (33.5). They are 3rd in the Conference in 3-Pr FG% (34.5%), Assists (16.65).

Texas Tech leads the Big 12 Conference in total steals with 289 in 27 games (10.70 per game). The Lady Raiders are #1 in the Big 12 and #21 in the nation in Turnover Margin (+5.52).

Coach Kristy Curry is in her 7th season and her current record at Texas Tech is 119-89 and is 7-7 against Oklahoma State.

The Cowgirls' Head Coach, Jim Littell is in his 2nd season with the OSU. His career record is 40-19 He was an assistant coach with the program for 6 years prior to being named the head coach last season. He spent 14 seasons as the HC at Seward County Kansas Community College, compiling a record of 418-61.
