Texas Tech S Tanner Jacobson is leaving to attend a two year Mormon mission. The soccer team ended up #17 in the final rankings. C Kader Tapsoba is named the Red Raider Club Scholar-Athlete of the month of December.

This is pretty neat, the Texas Tech flag football team needs some help, they apparently dominated their regional in Lubbock and have made the national tournament in Pensacola, but they need help raising money.  Go see if you can help them out.

Soccer: Congrats to the soccer team, who ended up as the #17 ranked team at the end of the season, which is the highest ranking of the program to end the season.

Volleyball: Congrats to Rachel Brummitt for being named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region teams.

Men's Basketball: Additional congrats to C Kader Tapsoba for being named the Red Raider Club Scholar-Athlete of the month of December. Tapbsoba is one of those guys you should be proud of because he's already graduated (I think Kravic and Crockett are also graduates) with a degree in computer science and is getting his masters degree in the same field.  Here is Tapsoba on Texas Tech:

"I would be most proud of being a Red Raider," Tapsoba said. "Being a Red Raider because it's more. It's not just one thing. It's the community; it's the athletics, the academics. It's everything."

Jacobson Leaving for Mormon Mission: I wish S Tanner Jacobson well as he is leaving Texas Tech for his two year Mormon mission (via LAJ).  I am quite ignorant of the LDS church so don't ask me how this works, but people giving back is good thing.  I wish Jacobson well, luck and safe travels.

Assistant Coach Salaries: USA Today released their database of assistant coach salaries. I don't know if I care all much about this other than I think the Texas Tech assistants are middle of the road in terms of being compensated.

Three Reasons: SB Nation's Dan Rubenstein has three reasons why Arizona St. and Texas Tech is worth watching.

What Now: The DMN has a look at what now after QB Baker Mayfield decided to transfer, which is essentially Michael Brewer, Davis Webb and any incoming freshman, which hopefully includes Patrick Mahomes and I could certainly envision another walk-on quarterback.
