Internet rumors are swirling that QB Baker Mayfield is transferring. I have received some confirmation that this rumor has some real legs and that yesterday was Mayfield's last day at Texas Tech. RRS's Chris Level did tweet that the Mayfield transfer rumors has some legs:
Nothing official yet but that's the word on the street, yes RT @JBTechsan711 Baker Mayfield is transferring?!! @ChrisLevel

The DMN somewhat relays what happened last night, which is that word started to spread on the twitter last night with ESPN's Joe Schad tweeting the words "Baker Mayfield" and then deleting the tweet.
It doesn't necessarily surprise me that one of the quarterbacks is transferring and with Mayfield, although it does surprise me that this is happening so quickly without a spring to see how things shake out.
Mayfield's story to becoming the starter at Texas Tech is interesting in that he walked on at Texas Tech and ascended up the depth chart to become the starter in Klif Kingsbury's first game against the SMU Mustangs. With Mayfield's possible transfer, this perhaps quells the persistent thoughts of Texas Tech that QB Michael Brewer would be transferring because he had not been able to supplant the two freshmen quarterbacks, Mayfield and QB Davis Webb.
