You may recall Javess Blue from the 2011 class, when he was an admittedly late signee that I think the staff knew wasn't going to qualify. In fact, back on February of 2011, I even wrote about how Blue was going to likely end up at Butler County C.C.

It's interesting that this 2013 class consists of two players that previously committed to Texas Tech, Blue and Terrell Hartsfield and I guess the thought is that someone is keeping tabs on these kids, not letting them get lost in the shuffle and they are coming back to Texas Tech. Not only that, I'm guessing that the promise was something to the effect of that if they do well and keep their grades up that there will be a scholarship waiting for them and those are good promises to keep. The types of promises that could pay off down the road when Texas Tech is re-recruiting ATH Casey Gladney that committed last year.

I'll also add that ESPN's Mitch Sherman is the one that caught Blue's re-commitment and I haven't seen this reported anywhere else. This always makes me nervous, but since I'm not the one reporting it, then we'll see if any of the other sites pick it up.

Stats

At Butler County, C.C., Blue caught 27 passes for 586 yards and 3 touchdowns. That's an average of 21 or so yards a catch. That's not bad. Blue also is a punt and kickoff returner, although the stats at the link don't break down how many punt returns or kickoff returns he had, so you're stuck with just these numbers.

More after the jump.

The Player Speaks

Nothing yet.

Scouting Report

I'm going to give a half-arsed theory here, but I think that after watching the Hudl film on Blue he is SadaleFoster.2.0 or maybe the staff thinks he can be exactly what Foster brought to the table. I think the staff intentionally wants players that can play and fill multiple positions. Blue is obviously fast, but he has plenty of size to also line up at running back and could ideally fill a receiver, running back, and returner role when Foster leaves and I think I kinda like this.

Javess, welcome to Texas Tech, again, and Git Your Guns Up!

The 2013 Class

Pretty interesting to see a lot of defensive commits.
