ODDS AND ENDS | Woot! Totally Texas Tech's TTU Red has a new coffee table book with pictures throughout campus. This is a new book, would make a great gift and so go check it out!

This is a short film called Searching for West and it's about hunting and about family, but that's really simplistic. I have the same thoughts going through my family when I leave them to go to Lubbock for the game as I missed so much of Fitsum's life, I hate to miss any more than I have to. It's 25 minutes long, so get comfortable.

VOLLEYBALL | The volleyball team is now 4-0 on the year, beating Boston College yesterday. They were down two sets before coming back to win. Terrific!

FOOTBALL | LAJ's Don Williams writes about the back-up role of QB Michael Brewer and LAJ's Nick Kosmider writes about how the spread can provide some scoring options in the red zone. In Kosmider's article, he has quotes about how the fade is a big part of the offense in the red zone. And I should also mention that we'll be following the redzone stats all season with this team and opponents. In Williams article, Brewer says that he'll play on a game-by-game basis, but is hoping for blowouts:

"Some of our non-conference games, if we can take care of business and get ahead of some folks, we’re hoping that I can come in and get some experience and some real live action out there," Brewer said. "As far as the packages go, we haven’t talked about that a whole bunch. That’ll be more of a game-week decision. My main focus right now is being as well-prepared as I possibly can when I’m in the game."

Scout's Compu-Picks is another mathematical formula to predict the season and have predicted the win totals for all teams, including Texas Tech, which is predicting 6 total wins. Vegas is at 6.5, so this is probably right.

Miscellaneous: I've missed linking a few of the state of the unions for Barking Carnival: Oklahoma Sooners, TCU Horned Frogs, Kansas St. Wildcats, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Kansas Jayhawks. It is good to have a sense of humor when reading these.
