ODDS AND ENDS | Black Heart Gold Pants continues their Pro Combat series with a preview of Iowa St.'s new uniform.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL | LAJ's David Just catches up with new assistant coach Katie Hensle.

GOLF | Gaby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman continue with match-play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.

TRACK | LAJ's Don Williams catches up with some former Red Raiders hoping to make their respective country's Olympic squads.

FOOTBALL | LAJ's Don Williams talked with Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt on the plans for an indoor practice facility (IPF) and he says that there are plans in place, most likely on one of the two practice fields, but probably won't happen for a few years:

"The indoor football facility project, that’s a want," Hocutt said. "It’s something we’re committed to continuing to explore and I believe some day will be a reality for this program. Is it going to be in the next 24 months? Probably not, but in the near future hopefully we can get some momentum and some detailed planning together and move forward on that."

I kinda like how Hocutt has said that he acknowledges that an IPF is a want, not a need and that when there is funding then it will happen. That's just about the best answer for me.

LAJ's David Just spoke with 2012 signee DT J.J. Loller, who had surgery on his eye again and he says he's doing well, but he's going to have to take it easy for a whlie.

CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman writes that Texas Tech has the easiest non-conference schedule, which you can make an argument for, while CFBMatrix writes that Texas Tech has the 5th easiest, behind four SEC teams (Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, and LSU).

Yesterday, I also linked CFBMatrix as they were predicting the win totals for the Big 12 and the proprietor of that site went ahead and wrote up the Texas Tech page and essentially, what CFBMatrix is writing is that Texas Tech could be anywhere between 9-3, but has dropped Texas Tech by two losses because of the coaching. Tough to argue with that after last year, but a 7-5 record seems optimistic for what a lot of you are predicting.
