DTN Daily Diatribe | Texas Tech News, Notes and Links 2012-05-14

TENNIS | Over the weekend, the women's team was ousted, but the men defeated Cal Poly on Saturday and lost a heart-breaker to California and didn't advance to the Sweet 16. Excellent effort by both programs this year.

SOFTBALL | The softball team will be traveling to the Seattle Regional for their trip to the NCAA Tournament and will play Maryland, Washington and Harvard. LAJ's David Just (auto-play) has a story on the trip with the auto-play video.

TRACK | The men's and women's team each place fifth in the Big 12 Championships.

BASEBALL | LAJ's George Watson has an extensive look at the baseball program, well worth the read if you are invested in this team.

MEN'S BASKETBALL | Per SB Nation's Kansas City, I never would have guessed that Texas Tech would have higher average attendance than Baylor last year:

"Kansas led the Big 12 with an average of 16,445 fans, placing No. 10 nationally. The Jayhawks were followed by Iowa State at No. 24, Kansas State at No. 25 and Texas at No. 30. Rounding out the league rankings were Missouri (32), Oklahoma State (43), Texas Tech (49), Oklahoma (53), Baylor (62) and Texas A&M (71)."

FOOTBALL | CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman was asked if Texas Tech would get back to bowl eligibility this year and he believes that this will happen.
