ODDS AND ENDS | In former Red Raider news, former men's basketball player Stanley Bonewitz has been named the athletic director at Concordia in San Antonio and will continue with his head coach responsibilities.
BIG 12 AND CONFERENCE NEWS | The Williams and Hyatt Show talks with AD Kirby Hocutt. Good stuff, says the Big 12 is happy with 10 conference members . . . today and that conferences is a fluid situation, are watching and things could happen to change that perspective. In other conference news, the ACC extended their television contract and the Orlando Sentinel's Coley Harvey has the most reasoned look as to why a team like Florida St. would even consider a move to the Big 12 and the biggest reason is . . . more money.
BASEBALL | LAJ's George Watson writes that with the team taking a break for finals, this may be good for the team.
MEN'S BASKETBALL | DMN's Mike Graham and LAJ's Nick Kosmider confirm that SF Terran Petteway and PG Biggie Minnis are also set to transfer, with Petteway looking at Nebraska and Minnis looking at Rhode Island. You can also listen to Kosmider talk with the Williams and Hyatt Show about the transfers and if this is an upgrade of talent with all of the players transferring.
FOOTBALL | Pre Snap Read takes a look at impact transfer players in the Big 12 and WR Tyson Williams gets a mention:
WR Tyson Williams, Texas Tech (West Texas A&M) The Red Raiders always need receivers. While Tech has a wonderful top three in Eric Ward, Alex Torres and Darrin Moore — offensive coordinator Neal Brown had nothing but praise for the latter during the spring — a player like Williams will be given the opportunity to move into the rotation. He showed a willingness to get dirty during the spring, putting his physicality to good use as a blocker, but Williams was also extremely productive as a pure receiver during his two years at West Texas A&M. He led the team in receptions in each year, making 96 catches for 1,321 yards during his all-American sophomore season.
DMN's Mike Graham has a list of seniors for the 2012 season and attempts to predict where they'll be drafted. There's a full season yet to be played so I can't really even fathom the idea of figuring out who should or should not be drafted for the 2013 NFL Draft and I think I've seen predictions in the past, probably even by me, that haven't come into fruition the last few years.
Miscellaneous Links: SB Nation's Wescott Eberts profiles 2013 LB Dac Shaw who just received an offer from Texas Tech and Baylor earlier this week . . . the BlogPoll returns and I have a hard time voting for teams right now, but I also have a hard time voting for teams in general as I really don't have the time to watch a full slate of college football games during the week and I don't think I should be voting (does this make me a responsible voter?) . . .
