ODDS AND ENDS | DTN reader crossfire1407 is a East Texas State / Texas A&M Commerce student, has started a blog and asked me to do a Q&A about blogging, go check out Prairie Lion Nation.
RRS.com's Mike Graham has a terrific piece on the retiring (from Texas Tech announcing) Mark Finkner. Very much worth your time.
TEXAS TECH SOFTBALL | The softball team takes on #17 Texas A&M in a double-header today so you might want to check that out.
DT's Matt Villanueva recaps the weekend series win against Missouri.
TEXAS TECH BASEBALL | OF Nick Hanslik joined The Williams and Hyatt Show's Ryan Hyatt yesterday. Good interview, very much worth your time. The end end is washer-talk (the popular game) and Hanslik talks about QB Seth Doege.
LAJ's George Watson writes about how head coach Dan Spencer wants to see how the team is going to handle success:
"We know how to win, and we’ve gone into some tough places and beat good people, and we’ve lost some games," Spencer said. "They understand the line’s fine and we’ve got to show up and play whoever we’re playing.
"We’ve been on the other end of adversity, so it will be nice to see if we can handle some prosperity for awhile."
RED RAIDER BASKETBALL | LAJ's Nick Kosmider and nwfdailynews both have articles on the commitment of SG Trency Jackson. I've got a profile on Jackson coming up later this morning. Sexy:
"I like his system because of defense and toughness," Jackson said "If you have a team full of soft guys, you won’t win anything, and I want to win."
TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL | Pre-Snap Read's Paul Myerberg has a couple of looks at Texas Tech opponent, Texas St. Bobcats (here and here). For those of you keeping score, that's at least two opponents that are two of the worst teams in F.B.S. Considering the overall strength of the conference, I'm fine with this.
DMN's Mike Graham is doing a positional series preview and up first is quarterbacks.
Blatant Homerism's Allen Kenney writes about how Big 12 quarterbacks are doing just fine and shouldn't be "discounted" because the Big 12 defenses are allegedly awful (some were awful, but some were pretty good).
