WBB: Lady Raiders play the K-State Wildcats Tonight March 3, 2012

The Lady Red Raiders play the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, KS on Saturday March 3, 2012 at 6pm CST at the Bramlage Coliseum. This will be the 22nd meeting between these two teams. K-State leads the series by one game 11-10. Tech has won the two out of three of the last conference games. Texas Tech is #13 on the All-Time Winningest Teams in NCAA Div1 History and K-State is #12 on that list.

Tech (17-12, 5-12) enters the game after suffering five losses in a row with the last one against OU in Lubbock on Wed., Feb 29th. K-State is coming off a loss to Iowa State in Ames, IA on Wed., Feb 29, 2012 (57-33). The Wildcats have lost two in a row with a loss to Mizzou on Sat., Feb 25th in Columbia, MO (61-56 OT).

NOTE: Junior Guard, Christine Hyde, had arthroscopic surgery on her left knee Friday, March 2nd. She will miss the remainder of the season.

What's at Stake: Tech is looking to end a 5 game slump and to end the regular season on a positive note going into the Big 12 Tournament. The K-State Wildcats are looking to stop their 2 game slide and to get a win for their Seniors on their last home game of the regular season. they too would like a win going into the Big 12 Tourney.

Comment: Just get a win. It's as simple as that.

Previously Play: The Lady Red Raiders played the Oklahoma Sooners in Lubbock on Feb 29, 2012. Tech had a strong first half and kept it close in the 2nd half but then their shooting went cold with about 5 minutes left and OU won 71-62. K-State has played two road games this past week. The Wildcats lost to the Mizzou Tigers on Sat., Feb 25th in a very close game that went into overtime but ended in favor of Mizzou 61-56. K-State played in Ames, IA on Wed., Feb 29th and struggled against the Cyclones. Iowa State controlled the entire game giving K-State their 2nd loss in a row with the final score of 53-77.

Coaches: Kristy Curry is coaching her 6th season at Tech. (105-85). Deb Patterson is entering her 16th season with the Kansas State Wildcats (318-186).

Last year: The Lady Red Raiders finished the 2010-11 season 22-11, 8-8 with a tie for 6th place in the Big12. Tech returns 11 players (3 Starters) from last year's team and welcomed 2 newcomers. The K-State Wildcats finished the 2010-11 season 21-11, 10-6 and finished in 4th place in the Big12. The Wildcats returned 8 Letterwinners (4 Starters) and have 5 newcomers.
