ODDS AND ENDS | What a busy weekend. Yesterday, my wife and I (and kid) adopted a new pug. If you remember, when we got back from Ethiopia, my wife's pug somewhat suddenly passed away. She was old, but it was still sudden, but then again, maybe they all are. My wife was searching for a pug rescue place and happened across a husband and wife who were getting rid or their 10 month old pug, Bambino, because they weren't home enough. We went to check out Bambino yesterday and my wife couldn't say no. Just too perfect of a situation to pass up. So now we're a one kid and two dog family. I don't know what we're going to do about the name, Bambino doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
TEXAS TECH TRACK AND FIELD | The title is somewhat of a misnomer, in that this is a member of the Texas Tech track team, Gil Roberts, but he's running in Istanbul, Turkey and yesterday he anchored the 4x400 men's at the World Championship. You may not believe this, but LAJ's Don Williams does a pretty darned good job of covering track and field and he has a good article on Roberts. Congrats!
TEXAS TECH BASEBALL | The baseball teamed dropped one heck of a game to TCU. Please see the DTN weekend baseball post or you can just check out the official site or the LAJ.
TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL | That's right, there is football news that is not associated with the arrests of TE Jace Amaro and RB Kenny Williams ( couldn't find an update this morning, so we'll just let it go). I was away from the computer yesterday and so I don't know what website broke the news, but as always, I'll post links to all of the services, Cibolo Steele S/RB Jordan Sterns committed to Texas Tech (Rivals N/R | Scout N/R | ESPN N/R | 24/7 Sports N/R). You can find some YouTube video and Hudl highlights at those links. I'm trying to wait on doing a profile on any of the 2013 commits until such time that more players are rated, which usually happens in the summer (I think).
RED RAIDER BASKETBALL | LAJ's Nick Kosmider has a good article looking forward and I intend on doing somewhat of the same thing, actually I intended on working on a couple posts yesterday, but my internet was not working yesterday afternoon so I didn't write anything. I will, but maybe just not this week. Kosmider doesn't offer any insight as to who won't be here next year, but does run through the players who have committed. Kosmider also references the fact that signee Pulaski SG Dusty Hannahs poured in 43 points in the state championship game against Clarksville on 12 of 14 from the field and 16 of 17 from the free throw line.
