First ever NCAA bid for Lady Raiders

Ronald Martinez

The Lady Raiders Soccer team was officially invited to the NCAA Championship Tournament (NCAA 2012 Women's College Cup). This is the first bid ever received for this program.

Texas Tech will host the first round match against the Mean Green of North Texas on Saturday, Nov 10, 2012 at 7pm at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

"It's just incredible," head coach Tom Stone said Monday. "It's such a great moment for this program and is a reflection of the commitment this university has made to women's soccer. We are thrilled to be able to host the first round and bring the NCAA Championships to Lubbock and our incredible fan base."

If the Lady Raiders beat the Mean Green, they will play either Florida State or Mississippi Valley in the 2nd Round.

If Texas Tech wins their 1st two matches and earns a spot in the 3rd Round, there is a chance they could face off with Texas A&M. (see tournament bracket)

The Lady Raiders had a school record of four players on the All-Big 12 First Team including Big 12 Rookie of the Year winner Janine Beckie. Tech has won seven of its last 10 matches and goes into the tournament with a record of 15-5-1. North Texas' record is 16-4-2.

This is such great news for this program. These players have worked hard and have earned this chance.

Coach Stone has done a tremendous job of improving and growing this program.

Congratulations Ladies for a job well done !!!
