OLYMPIC SPORTS | The soccer team fell to Baylor in double-overtime, 3-2. Dang. I just haven't had time to keep up with the volleyball team, but I know they're in a tough way right now. They host Iowa St. today who is ranked #22. The softball team is kicking rear in early season play. The Lady Raider tennis team kicked rear in an Air Force Academy tournament.
MEN'S BASKETBALL | LAJ's Nick Kosmider talked with interim head coach Chris Walker (am I going to have to type out interim all year?) about the style of play:
“We certainly want to get up and down and take advantage of our speed,” Walker said. “We have some guys that are some shot makers, and I think that if we can be in shape and we get up and down the floor and create turnovers on the defensive end with the attacking defensive style we’re going to play, I think it will make the game more exciting and make us more tough to beat.”
Also, Kosmider reports that 2013 commit Blake Danielak has re-opened his commitment. I have no problem with this. There are no seniors on the team and technically, there's no scholarship spot available, although I guess Wannah Bail's spot is available, but he could return in December. I hope this practice of forcing players out before their eligibility runs out stops.

LAJ's Don Williams writes about DT Kerry Hyder and his transition and learning to play defensive tackle:
“It took me a while,” the Texas Tech junior said this week. “I was used to being on the edge and, back in high school, even playing linebacker. I had to realize I can’t make all the plays and I’ve got to help my linebackers out sometimes. After playing (defensive tackle) all last season, I’ve kind of got the hang of it now.”
The LAJ als has a handful of preview articles: that this is a pivotal game for both teams, game day matchups and game day quick hits. The Tulsa World has three story lines and writes about the difficulties of OU playing in Lubbock. OU blog Blatant Homerism has best case / worst case for OU.
