K-STATE PRESSER | Here is this week's press conference. I haven't had time to really read any of it just yet, but plan to do so tonight. Head coach Tommy Tuberville, QB Seth Doege and S D.J. Johnson spoke at yesterday's presser. The scout players of the week were LB Kris Williams and RB DeAndre Washington, while the players of the game were DE Dartwan Bush on defense, while WR Alex Torres and WR Eric Ward shared the award on offense. Tuberville also details the injury situation, which is that CB Cornelius Douglas is getting closer, TE Jace Amaro is day-to-day, but seemed to be out of all football related activities last week, and NB Tre' Porter is likely to play. LAJ's Don Williams also has a summary with the pertinent quotes.

BOWL ELIGIBLE | So yesterday, Texas Tech released a statement stating that they would start accepting bowl applications. I didn't think this was a big deal and thought it was a weird press release, but then Student of the Game's Cody Davis seemed to indicate that this really was a big goal (not the only goal, but a goal) of the team:

Now the monkey is off our back and we are now bowl eligible. That being said we have bigger goals in mind. Now we don't have to worry about that and we can really pin our ears back and go after this final stretch of our schedule and leave it all out on the field. We have another huge game this week on the road traveling to Kansas State for another new stadium for me to play in. We must pull together, refresh our mind, and come ready to work.

MUST BE READY TO PLAY | LAJ's Nick Kosmider writes about how the team must be ready to play and Tuberville echoed that in yesterday's presser:

"We’re not going to will ourselves to win this week," said Tuberville, who is 6-2 in his career against top-five teams. "We’ve got to go play. We’ve got to be prepared. We’ve got to be focused and every snap can make a difference whether we win it or whether we lose it, or win by a big score or lose by big score. We’ve got to go play more of our football game."

I'm not exactly sure what Tuberville meant by the first part, but the rest of the quote seems to put things in context, at least for me, which is that this team must be ready to scrap, a lot like last week.

LINKS | QB Seth Doege is named as a Davey O'Brien semifinalist. Congrats! . . . LAJ's Don Williams has more on some of the reporters asking about whether or not Tuberville made the right decision with the on running the ball rather than passing the ball . . . SAEN's Tim Griffin is giving out some mid-season Big 12 awards and Texas Tech gets the biggest surprise team . . . Turfburner's Jay Beck and NewsOK's Berry Tramel have their Big 12 power poll and both have Texas Tech at #3 . . . I wasn't sure what to do with this, but in the LAJ, there's an article about how the defendants in the fraud suit are seeking a declaratory judgment against John David Stroud as it appears that he has still failed to file an answer and he may not have an attorney. Tuberville has filed an answer so they are not or cannot seek this type of declaratory judgment against Tuberville . . .
