Lady Red Raiders for the Week of Sept 19th to 25th

Volleyball Team:

Tech Volleyball plays the #16 Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at 1pm CST at the USA.

 

This is Tech’s home opener in conference play and the second conference game for the Cyclones.

Great Start: Tech comes into the game with the best pre-conference record in the Big12, with a record of 13-1. This is Tech’s longest winning streak since 1996 when they went 15-0 to start that season. Iowa State’s current record is 10-2.

Coaches: This is Don Flora’s first season coaching the Lady Red Raiders.  The Cyclones coach, Christy Johnson-Lynch, is starting her 7^th season. Her record at Iowa State is 125-67.

Competition:  Iowa State will be the biggest foe to date for the Lady Red Raiders.  Tech has played strong in pre-conference and will be looking for revenge after the Cyclones beat the Lady Red Raiders in both matches last season.

Tech is currently third in the nation in blocks per-set. (3.20)

Soccer Team:

Tech Soccer opens up conference play against Missouri on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at 7pm CST at the John Walker Soccer Complex

Current record:

Tech’s current record is 5-3-1.  Missouri stands at 8-2-0.

Previously Play:

Tech is coming off a win over Arizona State and tie with Arizona.  Missouri is coming off a loss to #8 Florida and a win over Missouri-Kansas City

Coaches: 

Tom Stone starts his 5^th season with Tech. (39-37-7). Bryan Blitz heads into his 15^th season with Mizzou. (154-125-15)

Last year:

The Lady Red Raiders finished the season 11-8-1. Finishing 7^th in the Big12.  Tech has 11 Starters returning and 9 newcomers.

The Missouri Tigers finished the season 7-10-2. Finishing 6^th in the Big 12.  They have 6 Starters returning and 13 new members on the team.

Tech lost to Missouri last year 5-2.
