Volleyball Team:
The Texas Tech Volleyball team will play its final pre-conference tournament this weekend when the Lady Red Raiders travel to Arlington, Texas for the UT-Arlington Invitational hosted by UTA.
Tech plays Prairie View A&M on Friday Sept 16, 2011. The match is slated for 4pm at Texas Hall, Arlington, TX on the UTA campus. On Saturday, Sept. 17th, Tech will then continue play against Louisiana-Lafayette at 11am and with the final match against UT-Arlington at 7:30pm.
Prairie View A&M’s record going into this weekend is 0-9. Louisiana-Lafayette stands at 6-6 and UT-Arlington’s record is currently 2-9.
While the Lady Red Raiders should have an easy time defeating Prairie View A&M they could be tested by Louisiana-Lafayette, who have had matches against Texas State, NMSU and Miami. The match against UTA will be a challenge and a good test of this Tech team. UTA gained experience last weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn Classic in Berkeley, CA with matches against Cal, Georgetown and Nevada.
NCAA Stats:
• The Red Raiders enter this weekend ranked sixth in total team blocking as Tech is currently averaging 3.19 blocks per set.
• Mikia Mills is 23rd in blocks per set as she is averaging 1.41 per frame, while Aubree Piper is 31st with a 1.35 average.
• In the individual rankings, Amanda Dowdy ranks 50th in kills per set as the senior is averaging 4.03 per frame this year
Tech has a tight schedule with a match on Monday, Sept. 19th at North Texas at 7pm. The Mean Green have a record of 8-6. This will be Tech’s last match before they start conference play against 12th-ranked Iowa State on Saturday, Sept. 24th in Lubbock.

Breeann David is a Legacy Red Raider. Her mom played Volleyball and her Dad played football at Tech. Stan David was a Safety for Tech in the early 80’s and played as a Linebacker for the Buffalo Bills.

Soccer Team:
The Texas Tech Soccer team (4-3-0) travels to Arizona this weekend. To participate in the Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort Cats Classic. First up, the Arizona Stae Sun Devils (3-3-0) on Friday, Sept. 16th at 7pm CST. ASU is coming off a close loss to Missouri. Their prior game was a sound win over Oklahoma. Then on Sunday, Sept. 18th, Tech plays the Arizona Wildcats (0-6-0) at 9pm CST. The Wildcats are coming off losses to Missouri and Oklahoma
Lady Basketball: The Lady Red Raider Basketball team has started their Pre-season workouts. The basketball team added another televised game to the 2011-12 season with the announcement from ESPN2 that the Tech v. Iowa State game on Feb. 12, 2012 will be broadcast. This is a home game so the USA and the Lady Red Raiders will be front and center for viewers. This game adds to the three games that will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net. The games that will be seen on FSN are: at Iowa State on Jan. 22nd, in Lubbock against Missouri on Feb. 5th, and at Texas A&M on Feb. 25th. //////////////////// Lady Golf Team: //////////////////// //////////////////// The Lady Tennis team starts their Fall season this weekend.
