Players report today and players practice on Saturday, which means that you can expect posts over the weekend.  I've taken the weekends off leading up until this weekend, but "we're talkin' bout practice".

Red Raiders report for camp today | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
Head coach Tommy Tuberville talks a bit about players reporting today.  Here's Tuberville on the the possibility of newcomers playing this year:

"They’re going to have to play for us, because we just don’t have any depth at pretty much every position," Tuberville said. "I’d say out of 24, 25 guys we signed you’re looking at 15 that have a chance (to play this season), maybe more than that. I’ve just got to be able to see all of them and see how far we’ve come and how far along we’ve gotten."

Can't wait.

# Red Raider Football Blog
I mentioned this last week, that I thought that the sports information department at Texas Tech was going to start writing their own media pieces, which is fine.  The first link is an article about the athletic trainers and the second link is the official site's Tumblr football blog.  This is all fine and none of it bothers me at all, just as long as you have your expectations properly set, i.e. that the information is going to be one-sided.  Lots of professional sports teams have their own writers (the Dallas Cowboys have employed Mickey Spagnola for years) report on the team so this isn't some sort of revelation, just something to watch. Texas Tech: Ranking The Units
Yeager ranks the Texas Tech units in terms of experience and talent (I think).  If it were me, I'd have the secondary higher, but overall, I think this is about right.

Given the overall lack of depth and experience at the receiver position, the loss of Williams could have an impact on the offensive success of UT.

# Big 12 Conference Basketball Schedule Released Today - Texas Tech Red Raiders Official Athletic Site
The schedules are out!  Everyone plays everyone!  Twice!  Yesterday, TTU also released that Texas Tech will play the Sycamores of Indiana St. (alma mater of a guy named Larry Bird) in the Old Spice Classic.  I know, it's tough talking about basketball when football practice is about to start.

One male track and field athlete and a handful of female track and field athletes were named all-academic honorees.  Here's the link to the male and the link to the females.  Congrats!
