DTN Daily Diatribe | Texas Tech News, Notes and Links | 2011-08-27

This is most likely my last post for the next couple of days.  Moved almost all of the furniture out of my house yesterday and will be movin' on in with my parents tonight.  Should be fun.  Hopefully, I'll have internet access on Monday and see you then.

Bailey says Big 12 will attract big names if Aggies bolt|myFOXlubbock | FOX 34 News KJTV Lubbock, Texas
Big names seems like such a far-fetched idea considering how this conference is crumbling, but President Guy Bailey seems confident:

"If they were to leave, we'd aggressively expand the Big 12. We'd go looking for one to three replacements. What we'd hope to do is replace them with someone outside our current footprint in the Big 12, somebody with great academics and a wonderful sports tradition. I think there's several schools out there that'd be interested. We don't think it'll be a problem. We think you'll be surprised, well, let me just put it this way: We'll be very aggressive and we think you'd be surprised with the results," Bailey said.

Red Raiders football notebook: Washington, Daniels will play | Red Raiders
Williams notes (and this is all in the first link with the film) per OC Brown that RB Kenny Williams is most likely not going to play as he's more of a feature back and they don't want to burn his redshirt on a handful of plays, while DeAndre Washington is a bit more versatile and will play, as will RB Ronnie Daniels.  OC Brown also says that Alfredo Morales is making a push to be the back-up center and there's a chance that Le'Raven Clark could play this year.  Also, for those of you on the RB Harrison Jeffers watch, he did return to practice after not being able to practice because of a bad back.

Legendary hoops coach Bob Knight to come off Texas Tech payroll Wednesday | Red Raiders
I had no idea he was still on the payroll and I'm guessing that he won't be raising any money for Texas Tech in the near future, so I guess this is fine.
