Athletics Subsidies at Division I Schools - USATODAY.com
Interesting database of how much each university takes as a subsidy from the university.  In 2006, 12% of Texas Tech's athletic budget came from the university, which was $6.5 million, while in 2010, the subsidy was 10% and $5.9 million.  There are only a handful of schools that didn't take any subsidy whatsoever (UT and TAMU being two of those schools) and I would bet that once the new television money starts to roll in the percentage for Texas Tech will decrease and I'd love to hear that Kirby Hocutt intends on reducing this amount over time.

FOOTBALL
2010 Best Case/Worst Case Scenarios: Big 12
Phil Steele thinks that at best, Texas Tech wins 8 games and at worst, wins only 4.  I can't imagine just 4 wins next year and that is his worst case, but still, that's a pretty low bar.

Scout.com: Texas Tech 2011 Preview: Texas State
I usually write previews for each opponent during the summer, but most summers I'm not adopting a child and so this exercise has passed me by.  I just need a job where someone pays me to do this full-time and that wouldn't be a problem.  Anyway, go check out RP.com's Travis Cram's work.

Piecing the Puzzle Together - TEXAS TECH OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE
I do not envy the job of new head coach Don Flora, but I never realized how incredibly successful Flora was at a lower level college, 242-56.  I wish you luck coach!

Ashton Kutcher joins SB Nation's board of advisors
So I think this means that Kutcher is sorta my boss or associate.  That's a conversation starter.
