Gotta go to work early, and am hoping a real estate deal I've been working closes today or at the very least I have all the paperwork completed.  Good times.  Everyone have a great Friday.

1.  No. 12 Oklahoma Eliminates Texas Tech From Big 12 Championship - TEXAS TECH OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE and OU’s strong pitching eliminates Tech from tournament | Red Raiders
Dang.  I'm a nervous about this team's chances to make the NCAA Tournament after losing two games in the Big 12 Championship.

2.  Red Raiders End Season at NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships - TEXAS TECH OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE
I missed this yesterday, but there were some Red Raiders that advanced the day before and played yesterday, but I forgot to mention it.  They were all knocked out yesterday.  Dang.

3.  Lamb, Okafor, Closse clinch berths in NCAA outdoor meet | Red Raiders and Tech Track Has Successful Start to West Preliminary - TEXAS TECH OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

4.  Gentsch Earns Highest Academic Honor in Softball History - TEXAS TECH OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE
Congrats to Holley!  A 3.96 GPA is something I would know nothing about.

5.  Peak Performance
This is a blog by the Drake University President who is blogging about his university's football team playing the first collegiate football game in Africa and trying to do some good while they're at it.

6.  Late Show Video - Scott Pelley Full Interview -
I didn't get a chance to listen to all of this, but he mentions growing up in Lubbock and working at the LAJ.

7.  The Crossover on Display - Video Library - The New York Times
Well, this video is just awesome.

8.  Totally Texas Tech: New TTU Campus Pictures - 5/25/2011 Evening Edition
More pictures from around campus, only two days late!

9.  Aerial Photographs of Joplin Before and After the Tornado - Interactive Map -
This makes me sick to see the devastation.  I have friends that live in the middle of Missouri, my best man in my wedding in fact, and have driven through Joplin a handful of times and just can't imagine it being completely wiped out.

10.  Tier-One Prize Money Bill Passes Texas Senate — Higher Education | The Texas Tribune and Texas Senate clears way for Tech to seek tier-one status | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
Sounds like good news.

So much more after the jump, including a rebuttal from Mark Titus, South Park on the NCAA and possible new legislation on oversigning.

11.  Club Trillion: My Rebuttal
Earlier this week I mentioned that Mark Titus, the 12th man on the end of Ohio St.'s men's basketball team started a blog a number of years ago and he opined on the situation regarding the Ohio St. football team.  Titus has responded and his original post and his rebuttal are both well-written and encourage you to read them.  The lesson here is that just because you criticize your university doesn't mean that you don't love them, it means that you have certain expectations.  I know, I'm bringing up a sore subject, but I couldn't help myself.

12.  Eric Cartman: "Stu-dent-ath-o-leets. Oh, that is brilliant sir." - The Dagger - NCAAB Blog - Yahoo! Sports and South Park Weighs In On The NCAA - From Our Editors -
The Dagger link is great because it has a transcript of the best part:

Cartman: "You have some mighty strong-looking workers here, sir. I'd be willing to offer $40 for two of the white ones and $50 for the blacks."
President: "Are you referring to our student athletes?"
Cartman: "Stu-dent-ath-o-leets. Oh, that is brilliant sir. Now when we sell their likeness for video games, how do we get around paying for our sla ... student athletes then?"
President: "Look there are good reasons our student-athletes aren't paid."
Cartman: "I ain't arguing. If they got paid, how would we make all our money?"

13.  That Which Does Not Kill Me Makes Me Stranger - New York Times
A Slovenian ultramarathoner is not like the rest of us.

14.  SEC proposals address oversigning | DogBytes Online (hat-tip Team Speed Kills) and New SEC Proposal on Oversigning and Roster Management "
I find the problem of oversigning fascinating and if you are a fan of the Texas Tech basketball team, we're going to find ourselves in this very situation as there are too many new signees in compariso
n to the returning players.  I don't know how it's all going to fit, but Gillispie has oversigned, there's no doubt about that.

15.  Top newcomers in Big 12 basketball - College Basketball -
No Red Raiders are mentioned, but that may be because there's nine new players for Texas Tech (right now).

16.  Big 12 NBA Draft History: With the 36th Overall Pick... - Big 12 Hoops
Woot!  A Red Raider is picked!  I though we'd go through this series without a pick, but former Red Raider Andre Emmett has saved us.
