Texas Tech News, Notes and Links | 6 Things

I hope everyone is okay after last night's storms.  I spent the night watching local weather and occasionally huddling in the closet with my wife and our dogs.  I think my evening was rather tame compared to what happened in Oklahoma and in Missouri.  Hope everyone is safe.

1.  Latest APR Report Places Texas Tech Athletics In Good Standing - TEXAS TECH OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE
The official site has your press release, but no link to the actual report.  It took some digging, mainly because the NCAA makes it somewhat confusing to find the APR reports, but here is Texas Tech's APR report for the 2009 and 2010 academic year (PDF).  I don't know if it's especially revealing or if all you care about is the fact that football scored a 940, which is certainly passing as all you need is a 925 to "pass".  The baseball team was the closest to that mark and scored a 925.

The rest of the links are OT links, and am trying to do a very quick baseball post for later this morning.

2.  Where Amazing Happens: Monta Ellis Tatoos A Gigantic Tree On His Chest - From Our Editors - SBNation.com
I have nothing else to add here except that Monta Ellis has a huge tattoo of a tree on his body.

3.  Randy (Macho Man) Savage's first love was baseball - The Bonus - SI.com and Randy Savage - 1956 - Rare Pics of Randy "Macho Man" Savage - Photos - SI.com (hat-tip SportsFeat)
I grew up watching wrestling as a kid and have vivid memories of Savage, but its strange the things you learn about someone after they've passed away.

4.  Totally Texas Tech: New TTU Campus Pictures - 5/24/2011
New pics!

5.  Kyle Singler’s latest trick shot video is even better than his first - The Dagger - NCAAB Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Pretty darned good trick shot video.

6.  Linebacker Play: RB Key reading - Shakin The Southland
Again, really good stuff from Shakin The Southland.
