PREVIEW
WHAT TO EXPECT | Two programs that have fallen on hard times and one of them will have 5 conference wins by the end of the night. I was talking to a friend, and I'm sure it's been mentioned a handful of times before, but there have been so many close losses this year. There were 10 games this year for Texas Tech and this team has 3 wins and 7 losses. Had some of those losses turned the other way for Texas Tech, then we might not be having conversations about whether or not Texas Tech should consider replacing it's head coach. It's an uncomfortable conversation for me because I do like Pat and I love Texas Tech and I hate to see this program struggling.
And tonight is senior night, the night that the seniors are to be recognized by their fans for their hard work during their careers at Texas Tech. Perhaps I'm too close to the situation as a fan to be objective, but this is all a bit depressing. I really don't want to think about what the crowd, or lack thereof, is going to be like tonight. This should be a night, where no matter the record, the fans show their support for the guys that have stuck with this program, received their degrees and contributed to their legacy at Texas Tech. I'd be lying if I said that Roberson, Roberts, Tairu, Reese and Dunn haven't made me happy at times and I've been frustrated with them as well. I suppose that for a night, I should just let it go and just hope for a win and not let that critical part of my brain take over. Just like these seniors, they need to just enjoy the moment.
And speaking of senior night, the leaast well-known senior, G Wally Dunn, is featured by both LAJ's Courtney Linehan and DT's Tommy Magelssen. I didn't know that Dunn was married and these are both good reads about a guy that I didn't know a lot about. I'll say it again, enjoy the moment.
More after the jump.
KEY MATCHUPS | The last time these two teams met, the Sooners shot 8 more free throws, shot 8% better than Texas Tech (48% to 39%) and forced 20 Texas Tech turnovers. It was awesome. The biggest problems for Texas Tech was Fitzgerald, who scored 20 points on only 12 shots and Davis, who scored 25 points, again on only 12 shots. That's where a bulk of your points came from and if Texas Tech can put the clamps on these two, then I think Texas Tech increases their chances of winning. If you wanted to give a senior a challenge, then tell Singletary that Davis can't do that again and Davis cannot grab 7 rebounds. Roberson scored 21 points in Norman, but he took 15 shots to get there. I've listed the starting lineups below and I've got all seniors starting for Texas Tech. It's on you.
