Last but not least, we share a little bit of love for Florida ATH Otis Wright, who committed to Texas Tech, pretty much sight-unseen and not having any other Division I offers. Wright's commitment is a direct reflection on new secondary coach, Otis Mounds, who was a big part of Florida high school football (coaching at St. Thomas Aquinas prior the the 2010 season) and there's your connection.

Let's get to it.
The Player Speaks: As stated above, Wright trusted Mounds and this is Wright's big opportunity:
For much of Tuesday, Dillard's Otis Wright thought he had just two college options.
The running back was weighing offers from Wagner College and Alabama State when finally, a major program came through.
Wright learned Tuesday night that Texas Tech was willing to offer him a scholarship. He and his family opted to take some time to think about it, but Wednesday morning, the answer was clear.
"It's the opportunity to play Division I football," Wright said as he signed with Tech. "I'm going out there sight unseen."
One of the big factors in helping Wright secure his college scholarship?
AdvertisementThe fact that former Dillard standout Otis Mounds is now an assistant coach for the Red Raiders. Wednesday, Wright credited Mounds with helping him earn the Texas Tech offer.
"He's a Dillard alum and he went out of his way to find a young man like me and give me the opportunity to prove myself."
The fact that Wright is a 6-0/180 athlete that can run a fake 40-yard dash time of 4.5 or 4.4 makes you think that Wright may have some grade issues, which is why he wasn't offered by a handful of other universities. But you have to think that he's talented. Playing in the BCAA North-South All-Star Classic, he was named the game's MVP, rushing for 87 yards on 13 carries and 1 touchdown.

Scouting Report: Just watching Wright's video, you know he has speed. It may not be world-class speed, but he's not slow. He can get outside and turn the corner relatively quickly and I'd have to imagine that this is not easy to do in Florida high school football. Most likely, Wright is a guy that will not qualify and he'll go to a junior college, but at the very least, if he can get his grades in order and he turns out to be a pretty good player, then the only Division I school that showed any interest in Wright was Texas Tech, and that might mean something to this young man. We'll see.
Otis, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
