ODDS AND ENDS | This is neat. For every person that watches A Game of Honor - Army vs. Navy, CBS Sports will make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. It's Friday, so you know you're not working.

LADY RAIDER BASKETBALL | Good stuff from LAJ's David Just, who profiles Texas Tech signee, Bullard G Minta Spears, who is the #3 leading scorer in the nation. Here is Minta:

"Well, it feels pretty sweet to sit back and think about it now," Spears said of her national presence, "but I’m not one of those people sitting on MaxPreps or looking at what people say about me. That just messes with your head. I don’t care how many points I score, I just do it because that’s what I have to do for us to win."

And I also noticed that Spears has a ESPN profile that describes her game (and she has an awesome YouTube video):

Seeing Spears back-to-back weekends allowed us to observe all the little things she does. She stays within herself and makes plays. She makes her teammates better, showed some handle, shooting range and toughness. She's not the most imposing player physically but her height allows her to play both guard posts. She's note a 20 and 10 player but coaches love her because she can do a little bit of everything and does so full throttle. She'll need to get stronger to help neutralize the quicker guards defending her at times. She rarely gets into trouble though because she doesn't try to do too much. Spears is the glue player that every coach wishes they had.

RED RAIDER BASKETBALL | This is kinda neat, F Jordan Tolbert is mentioned as one of the players considered for freshman of the year for CBS. Tolbert didn't make the top 10, but he's at least getting some national attention.

In other good news, per the official site, head coach Billy Gillispie says that he and his team of merry players will visit hospitals and help with charities for the next 12 straight days. The schedule of where BCG and the team are going to be is at the link. Here's BCG:

"The holiday season is a season of giving," said Gillispie. "Our team and our coaching staff definitely have the holiday spirit. We look forward to doing our part to making the season as joyous as possible for others. We are very excited about these 12 special days and hope to make this an exciting yearly tradition. We want to be known as a program that excels on the court, in the classroom and in the community."

Per LAJ's Nick Kosmider, he talked with G Luke Adams' father, Mark Adams, and Luke can actually hear the Justin Bieber taunts (I am expecting huge traffic from typing the words, Justin Bieber). Here's Mr. Adams, who says that the Bieber taunts also happened at TAMU-CC:

"In a crowded environment, he's going to hear about 98 percent of what's said," said Mark Adams, the basketball coach at Howard College in Big Spring.

Mark Adams said his son has been a deft lip reader since he was very young, and with the addition of the cochlear implants and a hearing aid -- which he keeps in place with a headband during games -- "he's just as normal as you and I."

TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL | Per our good friends at Rock Chalk Talk, Kansas has hired Charlie Weis to be their head coach. Hmmm, I'm not sure that I'm that impressed by the hire and all I know is that EDSBS is dancing that he's no longer at Florida.

If you're in the Bryan-College Station area, you can to check out Texas Tech commit Tenaha's QB Reginald Davis.

I've been saving this for a week, and what a way to end a week. Everyone has been wondering what was TE Adam James' halftime speech during the Oklahoma game, that it was forced on the team and that this is all a media conspiracy. I've always said that I don't know because I'm not in the room. Anyway, you can see the speech at the 13 minute mark (or so), but you can also see players like QB Seth Doege, WR Alex Torres and C Justin Keown talk as well. I'm not a person that gets pumped up by rousing speeches, so I can't say that anything that Doege, Torres or Keown said was any better or worse than what James said, but I think I'm different than most people.

All I'm going to ask is that you don't get yourself banned. If you can't handle to comment, then don't comment at all, but I didn't want to not post (yea, double-negatives) post this. Anyway, you can make the judgement for yourself.
