ODDS AND ENDS

Tech’s Carol of Lights tradition in its 53rd year - The Daily Toreador: La Vida
I love this tradition at Texas Tech and if anyone can find some good photos, please post in the comments.

LADY RAIDER BASKETBALL

Tech tops No. 16 Penn State, stays undefeated - The Daily Toreador: Sports
If you've been in a cave or in South Texas for a weekend (I am not saying that being in South Texas is like being in a cave, but I have been in the dark for the weekend), then you should know that the Lady Raiders beat No. 16 Penn St. in Lubbock on Saturday afternoon. Woot! Congrats to the Ladies and they play UT-Arlington on Wednesday night and much thanks to RndRckTTU for making this front page material all weekend. The official site also has a lot of information from the game, including post-game video, quotes, stats, etc.

TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL

2011-12 Bowl Games: BCS Championship Rematch On, Hokies Crashing Sugar - SBNation.com and NCAAF News, Scores and Fan Opinion Powered by 316 Sports Blogs - SB Nation
If you want to catch up on which team is playing in which bowl, then the first link will be very helpful. If you are like me and need to know what's going on in college football, then I recommend the second link which is the SBN college football page.

Twitter / @GoldenBearLair: Offensive Tackle Christian ...
I am sure that most of you have already discussed this, but it is bothersome that Christian Okafor, brother to Mickey Okafor, has switched his commitment to the California Golden Bears and the bothersome part is that obviously Mickey knows the program and either couldn't or didn't convince Christian to keep his commitment. Mickey was replaced in the starting lineup by Terry McDaniel later in the year, so maybe there was something to do with that. Maybe I'm over-reacting, but I just don't like it.

Bulldogs, Blinn prepare for Mississippi Bowl - Junior Colleges - SunHerald.com
This says that Mississippi Gulf Coast CC WR Javon Bell (6-0/175) has committed to Texas Tech. Bell is the #17 ranked JUCO player according to Rivals and for the year Bell caught 58 passes for 822 yards and 8 touchdowns (that's about 14 YPC). Like a lot of highlight films, Bell is pretty good (YouTube), has a unique ability to jump up and grab passes and plays much bigger than 6-0 or 6-1. Would be nice to have a player that will stretch the offense.

Twitter / @KassEverett: Just told rivals.com my to ...
CB Kassiem Everett said this after his visit to Lubbock over the weekend:

Just told rivals.com my top 3. No particular order. Iowa state, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. Big 12 ball is where it's at.

Everett is a JUCO cornerback from California and here's his Scout profile. Texas Tech also has an offer out to his teammate at LA Pierce, CB Oliver Johnson (Scout profile).
