DTN Daily Diatribe | Texas Tech News, Notes and Links | 2011-10-07

I think this is my last post for the week.  Would just like to remind everyone to be coolio.  Don't burn down the house while I'm gone and discuss things in a civil nature.  I will have the GDT going up at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and have scheduled posts to appear at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.  Will try to check in from the road.

It's not your normal moment of zen, but I found this short video fascinating:

No mention of Texas Tech, which is expected.

Guy Bailey: TCU's move into Big 12 would stabilize conference | Red Raiders
I really haven't had time to talk much about TCU joining the Big 12 and maybe that's going to be for another day.  SB Nation does have a TCU blog, Frogs O' War, so that's a start.  And I'd also add that you should follow the SB Nation story stream as this is an incredibly fluid situation and you'll find any and all updates there.

Vibes not good from WVU  - Todays column - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports -
West Virginia is feeling a bit left out, not quite good enough for the ACC or the SEC, but they're an option for a number of conferences.  I don't know if I agree with the Big 12 remaining at 10 teams as I think that if the Big 12 doesn't act quickly, the number of quality universities that are available will dwindle as other, more appealing conferences, would take those remaining universities.  Seems to me that the time to strike is now, while it appears the Big East may be on the brink of destruction (sorry Big East!).

Texas A&M isn't just any game for Tech's Zouzalik | Red Raiders
IR Austin Zouzalik seems all alone:

"My dad’s dad was in the Corps (of Cadets) at A&M," Zouzalik said. "My mom’s dad studied ag science at A&M. I’ve had two cousins in the Corps. Another one ran track there. One of my cousins ran for (student body) president of A&M. Another one was in a fraternity at A&M, just graduated. It goes on down the line. They’re everywhere."

I had not seen any sort of RB Ronnie Daniels update in the LAJ, but did find this note in the ABQJS:

DANIELS UPDATE: Former La Cueva star Ronnie Daniels remains suspended at Texas Tech. A Red Raiders spokesman says the freshman running back is practicing with the team. The spokesman says his suspension is a result of a "team violation" but is not criminal in nature.
