This Did Not End Well: Sunday was the series-deciding game and it would be an understatement to say that Sunday's game got a bit out of hand. To make a long story short, Chad Bettis has been suspended for 4 games and Jay Johnson has been suspended for 1 game. Bettis has been handed an automatic 4-game suspension for hitting Gregg Glime, who had hit a grand-slam earlier in the game. Bettis wasn't given a warning and according to the Big 12 rules, if a pitcher is ejected for throwing at a hitter, it's an automatic 4-game suspension. Thankfully the Big 12 has decided a harsh punishment for throwing at batters, but basketball players can punch an opponent with only a 2-game suspension. All irony aside, Bettis had to have known what the implications would have been had he intentionally thrown at Glime. And if he didn't, he should have, or someone should have.

Recap:  LAJ's George Watson has the game recap from yesterday and if he's concerned about getting an at-large NCAA post-season bid, then so am I. Head coach Dan Spencer didn't make any excuses for Sunday's loss:

"Well, I just said we basically just got beat. We didn't do enough of anything to win. We just got outplayed, we really did. We got outpitched, and then they swung the bat better than we did. I thought we had some chances early. We had a chance to score early in the first, and we didn't. Then we had a chance to get off the field with Jay (Johnson), and we didn't. Then (Chad) Bettis got behind and the guy hit the home run, and then a couple infield hits the next inning and a ball that Barrett (Barnes) catches most of the time, and then we get another home run and we're in trouble. What I told them was we did what we had to do this weekend, but obviously we're trying to win a series. We did what we had to do and clinched a spot in the Big 12 Tournament, and we go to Nebraska with work to do to push our season farther."
