Recruiting on the High Plains :: RB Kenny Williams and WR Derek Edwards Commit to Texas Tech

Texas Tech held a junior day on Saturday and so far so good.  I have no idea if more commitments will be on their way, but early commits are a good thing, usually, and from all accounts, Tommy Tuberville and staff received commitments from some pretty good players in RB Kenny Williams (Pflugerville) and WR Derek Edwards (Brenham).

And this morning or late last night, RRS.com reports that the team actually received a third commitment, and I assume it's an offensive lineman because Matt Moore's mug is on the front page of RRS.com.  I don't know who it is yet, but I'm sure we'll find out in a day or two.

We'll get to the third commitment tomorrow, but for today, we'll discuss Williams and Edwards.

The Player Speaks:  I couldn't find any free content on either of these two guys, although I'm sure we'll get an article sooner rather than later.

Scouting Report:  Williams may be one of the best running backs in the state.  Take a look at his measurables, then take a look at his video then come back here . . . pretty good, huh?  Running through, over, and past opposing players is always impressive, but it's even more impressive when you're talking about one player that can do this.

As far as Edwards is concerned, it was hard to tell about his overall speed except for the kickoff return.  He does have the ability to to go up and get the ball, which I think is always important in a spread offense and Edwards also took a few hits and isn't afraid to go over the middle, which I also like to see.

Video: Williams is up first and here's the pretty amazing highlight video:

I haven't been able to find any YouTube video of Edwards, but I did remember that TTUMAR did post a FanShot to an interview and highlights of Edwards:
