James Improving Mental Aspect:  LAJ's Don Williams focuses on IR Adam James attempt to get back in the good graces of the coaching staff after having a tough spring.  James readily admits that he wasn't as focused during the spring:

"I think really the thing I had to improve on the most was my mental preparation and being able to complete a practice," James said Saturday. "In the spring, I would have good parts of practice and I’d have bad parts of practice, so really (it was important) being able to just put it all together for an entire practice and do it day after day."

James also gives credit to strength and conditioning coach Bennie Wylie:

"Also, this summer, Bennie (Wylie, the team’s strength and conditioning coach) did a really good job of getting us in shape," James said. "This is the best shape I’ve been in since I’ve been here, so that helps to be able to go an entire practice without having any slow-ups."

Texas Tech Football Notes:  LAJ's Don Williams talks with DE Brandon Sharpe, who weighs in at 270 pounds (I had no idea he put on 20 pounds during the offseason):

"As long as I can keep my speed, that’s all I’m worried about — if I can keep my speed and run. The more weight, the heavier the hitting’s going to be.’’

. . . RB Baron Batch is ready to roll:

"I’m ready to go, ready to rock and roll, to get it started,’’ the junior from Midland said.
